I HATE AMAZON

A couple of weeks ago I ordered my shiny new copy of Harry Potter off the internet with the guarantee of delivery TODAY or else it is FREE. I've been quietly (or not so quietly) counting down the days until its delivery. 2 days ago I received an email stating that my credit card transaction had not gone through and so my book had not been shipped. I checked, everything I entered was correct, so I clicked re-order using the same info. Now it says my estimated delivery date is Aug 1 - Aug 8th! and the Book still hasn't even been shipped yet! I am so frustrated and angry. I want my book NOW! That was the whole point of ordering it from the freakin internet, to get it today on the day it comes out! ARRRRRGGGGH.

TO THE MAX

I signed up for to take part in a study examining the effects of prolonged exercise on heart function being done by U of T Graduate Department of Exercise Science.
Today was my first test...the VO2 Max.
I love fitness testing, but it always makes me so nervous. I'm not sure why...maybe b/c it's easy to say 'Yeahhh i'm in pretty good shape ya know, I work out and blah blah blah...' and I'm worried the fitness test will show the world that I'm not realllllly an athlete, just mysteriously I'm able to make it to the finish line when I race....
Also, when someone hooks you up to a heart rate monitor, puts a head piece snugly on your head and attaches a breathing tube, plugs your nose and puts you on a moving treadmill with increasing incline and speed and tells you to run to exhaustion - it's a lil nerve racking...
So I showed up today for my first of 3 Fit Tests of the study. I signed lots of waivers and questionnaires and got my height and wt and away I went on the treadmill.

I ran 14:00
Br/min: 52
VO2/Kg (ml/Kg): 50.4 (i.e. my VO2 Max)
Max HR: 197
Anaerobic Threshold: 185

I checked the old internet and a VO2 max > 41 for females my age is Superior :) although those blood doping Tour de Francers typically have VO2 maxes in the 90's!!

Next week --> Treadmill run at the hospital with a Cardiologist, 2.5 hour track run, Dobutamine continuous IV injection to raise my heart rate while resting and ECHO of my heart....WOOT WOOT!

THE MAN HAS NO SHOES!

Last night 3 flipflopped girls hit up the downtown area for a long overdue girls night. We began the night at the Maddy with some deliciously cold beer then hopped on the old subway to Queen St. After walking around for some time, debating whether or not we wanna try out Summerlicious, we ended up at Shoeless Joes. First off they brought out our appetizer of uno nachos like 2 seconds before our regular food (salads) and Billie's onion free sandwich. Well it was supposed to be onion free. We informed the server - no big deal we'll just munch on the nachos while we wait for billie's new sandwich. Finally it comes back...open it up, sure enough the onions were scrapped off, but half of them still remained! While we laughed our asses off at this, billie was still unimpressed. "Ummm, there's still onions on it." "Ohh, uhh, did you want me to take it back?" "Uhh yea!" "Ok. sorry, you won't have to pay for it" "No, no I won't"....our server comes back as we're finishing up our salads and asks billie, "Did you want us to make you a new one?" Seriously.
We left a real shitty tip and giggled our way out the door.

Then laura m dawg and me hit up the IMAX for some serious Harry Potter action! I was happy to see it in IMAX for an extra 3$, even if only ~10 minutes of the movie was in 3D, it was still cool to have the really really big screen. I'd heard mixed reviews about the Order of the Phoenix, but I really liked it. I thought it was super sad when Serius died, but I managed to hold it together and not cry. I read the book a long while ago, so I don't really remember everything, but I'm sure there was lots left out. I cannot wait til the 21st when my shiny new copy of Harry Potter arrives in the mail from Amazon.com. eeeeee.

overall it was a delightful night of good clean fun.
