WE'RE DOING FINE ON THE ONE AND NINE LINE...
New York isn't as glamorous as I had expected. TV and Movies like to paint a pretty picture of reality, but don't get me wrong, NY is pretty fucking spectacular! Aside from the homeless people up the street selling their stolen crap and the dirty, initially confusing subway, I love everything.
Day One in New York involved busing it across town with my suitcase on a way overcrowded bus, then walking through the rain with said suitcase to finally arrive at the Westwing - my new home with Argos and Newt for the week. I can't remember if we went out that night or not (Dive Bar? Stout? a diner with fake flowers and dollar bills taped to the wall?)..the days seem to be blending together...
In the following days we got up to some sight seeing and shopdawging. VS and Sephora were delightful, Times Square amazing - who knew advertisements could be so beautiful?, I went running in Riverside Park beside the water - very east coast/big city feel (?), my first walk through Central Park was cut short because of some mild diner induced food sickness - thank you Tom's Restaurant ...but the next day I went for a run through the park. It is huge and winding and beautiful, with bridges, and trees and castles, and ponds and rocks and cyclist and happy runners and walkers. I loved it.
The Museum of Natural History was fantastic - all 1/2 a floor that I seen of it. The sea world and monkey people were tres cool and so was Dinosaurs ALIVE!
Two days ago I ventured out on the subway all by myself to meet up at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, for Improv Night. I was very proud of myself for surviving the trek alone and the $2 beer combined with funny people doing silly things on stage made for a great night.
Last night was, my favorite, Homestead Steakhouse, with the Hamblyyy's and another walk through Times Square, this time AT NIGHT! ooooo ahhhhh. yea i still did a lot of ooo and ahhhing.
This is now my last day in NY and have no idea what the night holds in store, but I can imagine it will be awesome and spectacular and I won't want to leave.
Pictures to follow on Facebook...
