ORDINARY PEOPLE DOING EXTRAORDINARY THINGS

(my life is just that exciting that I need to post twice in one day. for serious.)

I got up this morning at the ungodly hour of 6:46am and pulled on my running clothes (the nice hot tight ones) tried to make my hair look presentable in its greasy, slept on, non blowdried, pony tail and headband state and brushed some clear mascara over my lashes and was ready. Ready for my big television debut that is.
I spent the morning hours with Scott, Derek (both Boston runners) and Alice running through St. Clair W park, up some hills, down some hills, around corners, through the bushes over bridges, through casa loma, and finally stopped at hart house field for a lil interview about why I run and what it would mean to me to qualify for Boston and run with me dad. While driving and running around me and the men chatted like school girls over our past running stories. It was great fun! I'll keep ya posted on when/where to watch, but keep your calendars open for Sept 30 and October 7 :)

SO ENTERTAINING
It may be time to buy a new computron...as much as I don't want to. If I do, I want something portable (small, durable, light weight) affordable (i so have not budgeted for another new computer) fun (built in webcam) and pretty (gotta have some style yo).
So not knowing much about computers I've just been looking at Dell (b/c they have an advertisement in the paper)...I like the Inspiron 1420 in spring green (I really like that you can pick your color!!) for an extra 40$ you can add a built in webcam bringing it to ~ $840

I've also looked at the Inspiron 1501 (which isn't as pretty) - it's a widescreen (15.4"), nothing too special except it's cheaper ~ $550 and no webcam.

Thoughts? Opinions? ...I know it won't be for a lil while before i do buy, i'm gonna wait til old butternut officially gets the bucket...but i'd like to start thinking about it. And i think i'm definitely going with a new computer...my last 2 laptops were at least 2 years old receiving them...it's time to start fresh i think...and this time I will do my best to not spill on it, drop it or anything else harmful to it!

EAT. SLEEP. TRAIN.

i've reached the level of healthy obsession with my training program. we tell ourselves it's a healthy obsession to make ourselves feel better. right now it's making me feel a little nauseated. i've been going over numbers in my head, on paper, on the calculator. checking my past race times, split times, start times, finish times. estimating my upcoming start time, split time and finish time. figuring out my required pace. required. that's a scary word. this is when running changes from a leisure hobby to that healthy obsession.
last week at Nike Club we finished our run in 30:12...
"that must have been more than 5k" as I struggled to catch my breath after sprinting it out against the boys
Since they all carry the new fancy schmancy nike ipod sneaker systems that calculate distance everyone checked...sure enough 5.6K...but one guy had a GPS watch in miles...so we spent a good 10 minutes calculating his distance in miles to kms...finally we had to go into the store and borrow a calculator to determine that we had actually run a total of 5.77km. we opened our gatorade cheers'd to our ridiculous obsession with numbers before parting ways til next week. it makes it ok when you're not the only one.
anyways, 13 days and counting til the big race. you'd think after completing 5 I wouldn't get nervous anymore, but it seems the more I run the more pressure I put on myself...training's done, nothing left to do now but rest rest and rest, hope for good weather and get excited.
