LIFE AFTER THE IRONMAN

Nagging injuries, iron depletion, weakened immune system, 30 minute workouts after 13 hour shifts at the hospital seeming near impossible... yet I still manage to find myself after night shift, before bed, pedaling away at the gym. It's like a drug. Ironman is the drug.

I'm already counting the days (well months) til next year's Ironman Canada...both in extreme excitation and extreme fear. Training has been a bit frustrating lately with those nagging injuries and trying to eat and sleep properly - not easy to do as a nurse...My 10K race time has slowed by 2 minutes since the summer, and sadly, 10K is what I consider to be a long run these days. I am a very lucky girl though and have a boy that pushes me to get out and train but also makes sure I give my foot some time to recover.

I sort of know that my body needs to recoup and rest up, but I can't help but worry that my fitness is slipping and that I won't get it back. Anyways, I'm sure I'll live, and hopefully to tell the story of a successful Ironman # 2 in 9 months time :)

Oh! and I highly recommend you watch this video...it's pretty great. Makes me all emotional. Whatevvs.

oh, and I'm working on a follow up of the scrapbookology...
