SUPERCALIFRAGISEXY YEAR

It's really not New Year's Eve without SHINY DISCO BALLS, or better yet, stolen Shiny Disco Balls! This year we rang in the new year with some of my favorite people trudging through the snow to the North end of Halifax to Gus's Pub. New Year's morning I bundled up and dragged T-Rex out for my annual New Year's Day Run. Blizzard warnings don't stop me.
Since 2008 my hair has gotten a little shorter, my sneaker collection a little bigger, and my love life a little more exciting. Last year I resolved to stay away from the boys, but 2008 began with a few short lived flings, until I unexpectedly found someone who I can happily stand still with. I never did make it to the theater in the classic sense, but I seen lots of movies on the big screen (SATC being my favoritest of the year), made an appearance at TIFF, seen more of the blue jays, and even got to meet Lisa Bentley (11 x Ironman Champion) and Simon Whitfield (Olympic Triathlete) (Sigh).
Last year I wrote that I wanted to get a new bike and start thinking about doing a full Ironman...well I welcomed Cervelo into my life and completed the Subaru Ironman Canada in 13:26. My training kind of changed focus a bit from the previous year.

2008 Yearly Total:

Run: 1214 Km
Swim: 114 Km
Cycle: 2143 Km

2007 Yearly Total:

Run: 1587 km
Swim: 78 km
Cycle: 961 Km

Last year I was also really focused on trying to qualify for Boston. I ran 3 marathons, despite my nagging plantar's fascitis, for a total of 9 marathons to date. This year I hope to run 2 marathons, but actually enjoy them this time. I want to improve my Ironman time, but I won't beat myself up if I don't run a 3:40 marathon.

When I wasn't traveling to BC for Ironmans, or cycling over 2000kms, running marathons, or hitting up NYC, I graduated from U of T's nursing program and got another shiny degree to lean against my wall, and landed a full time gig at the hospital, helping to give the Gift of Life. I'm still thinking about medicine, but I'm happy with nursing career at the moment.

Looking forward to 2009 :)
