BACK FROM THE LAND OF ALIEN-LOOKING REDDISH-BROWN MUD FLATS...

(description of the Minas Basin Look Off in En Route)

After one last AM run in Point Pleasant Park and some rushed goodbyes I waddled into the Halifax Airport, suitcases in tow. I changed my seat to the emergency exit to avoid been squished into a seat right beside the bathroom and with a few minutes to spare I grabbed a mocha at Tim Hortons and proceeded to Departures where I was told I couldn't bring my coffee. Not wanting to waste such a delicious beverage I decided to take a big gulp burning the entire inside of my mouth. Smart move. So finally I'm sitting quite comfortably in my 19F window seat with all the leg room in the world watching the other travelers walk by finding their seats when...I do a double take on one of the guys walking by...it was pretty obvious that I noticed him cuz he looked over and smiled...such a friendly guy...But where do I know him from? Canadian Idol! OMG YES! but having only watched the show twice I didn't know his name...soooo I didn't say anything. We landed and I found myself walking beside Mr. mystery man...trying desperately not to make it obvious that i'm checking him out trying to remember his name and figure out if it's actually him (yes i know i'm an idiot). finally we're standing beside each other waiting for our bags...It's probably pretty obvious that i'm working up the courage to ask him if he's the Canadian Idol dude, then an old couple started chatting him up and he was really friendly so I finally said...
"Can I just say hi to you?"
"Yes, sure you can!"
"You're the Canadian Idol guy right?"
"Hah yea"
"Ok! ramble ramble mumble mumble I don't watch the show much..."
"And what's your name?"
"Paulette"
"Nice to meet you, I'm Dwight
" Ohhhhhhh RIghtttttt

anyways, I wished him good luck in the finals not knowing that he was kicked off last week, I also didn't know where he was from or where the show was filmed (even though it's filmed like 1/2 hour from my apt!)...[Note to self: know a little bit about semi-celebrities before approaching them!] ...he was really nice though. we're friends now! hah!

Then there was the difficult task of carrying my over sized suitcases up the subway stairs. I was pleasantly surprised and grateful when two separate times I was offered help carrying them. Toronto isn't so unfriendly after all :)

Anyways, I am back in my cozy little apt, unpacked, groceries delivered and school bag packed. It feels good to be back 'home' as much as I miss my other home.

Nursing Orientation Week starts Tomorrow! Wooot wooot! See y'all at the maddy tomorrow :)

EAST COAST ADVENTURES

Today is my last day in Halifax after a couple of weeks of hanging out on the East Coast. I'm hoping aboard a plane tomorrow afternoon and making my way back to the T-dot (toute seule) :(
The main reason for my lil hiatus from the big city was for my big bro's wedding.

It was a beautiful wedding and while the Dalton family looks all well and civilized here there were certainly some shenanigans taking place over the long weekend at the Delta...And this next picture might look like I'm happily hugging my new sister-in-law (or outlaw as the Dalton's like to call them) maybe I'm really holding her back so she doesn't run away :P

Once the wedding festivities were over I ventured up west for what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation but turned into triathlon boot camp! But it was fun - lots of long runs, bike rides, open water swims, pool swims, tennis tournaments of sorts etc. Very enjoyable time :)

Then I hoped aboard the PEI shuttle and got to Halifax to visit my beautiful ladies

Had some lovely dinners, martinis, wine, strolls along the boardwalk, cow's icecream, 90210 Marathons...oohhhh how i'm going to miss it when I'm back in TO.

More pics to come perhaps...either here or on facebook...
