RISIN' UP, BACK ON THE STREET
DID MY TIME, TOOK MY CHANCES
Just 2 weeks to go before Ironman #2 and this little iron-plette cannot wait. I can't wait to spend a week in beautiful Penticton, BC and take in all the Ironman Canada excitement.
I've been training all year for this and I feel ready. Confident that I can finish, hopeful that I will set a new PB and seriously wishing to finish under 13 hours (and before dark).
My swimming has been disappointing this year and although I finished in 1:38 last year, I'm not so sure I can improve on that this year or even make that same time...
The bike however I am going in confident. Or at least more confident than last year. It has certainly been a rough year for Cervelo and me, with many flat tires, some mis-adjusted aerobars and getting hit by two cars!! (on separate occasions!)...but despite all of that I am feeling comfortable on Cervelo and am hoping to ride the 180km bike course in 6 1/2 hours (45 minutes faster than last year!).
And the run, while I am still fighting with my nagging plantar injury, I have been running a little bit and I would love to run a 4 hour marathon...but I realize that will be extremely challenging for me and maybe even more than running 4 hours, I want to be able to enjoy the run, smile, and take it all in as I finish the last leg of such an incredible triathlon experience.
Throughout it all I will be watching for my Dad to make sure he stays behind me this year!
So get ready and set your alarm early for Sunday August 30rd. Race starts at 7am and is aired live on TV (possibly on TSN, FSN and Versus????) as well as on line.
