Just how important is attending class...?
I've always been a 'class-goer', even in elementary I hated missing school for my dentist appointment. I'm not sure why, it's not like I was going to fail the "write the alphabet test" if I missed that one class....and then in High School, I remember missing class to head to Ch'Town for the day with Cat and finding out that my physics class had been outside building snowmen while I was gone, and being appalled that they did that without me.
During my 4 year undergrad at Acadia I missed less than 10 days (that i can remember) ...i didn't even like to skip intro psych! And now in Nursing, I'm finding that I'm the "reliable" one that people depend on to get the missed notes from class.
I'm starting to wonder if my time could be better spent doing other productive things such as studying, shopping, sleeping....
I'm sure I won't stop attending class though...what if they announce some important information and I don't hear about it! I'll just bring stuff to do during the less than exciting classes.

As a certified and card-carrying non-class-goer, I'd say that attending class depends on class size, how good the prof. is, how good the textbook is, and on whether there are any in-class activities that influence your grades (e.g. stupid quizzes). Most importantly, it really depends on the person. If going to class has always worked for you, then I say stick with what works. But if you'd rather skip a class to go study/read/whatever every now and again, then don't feel compelled to attend.
