"So when are you going to do the real Triathlon?"

In need of some motivation for my winter training to keep me from eating nothing but jujubes and sitting on my ass watching Grey's reruns all season I've set a 'courageous goal' for myself. (xc girls, you know what i'm talking about)Courageous my ass! Courageous is jumping out of a moving plane! But anyways, i've set a goal for myself for the summer. I've done the marathon (and will continue to run it and hopefully qualify for boston someday but that's a whole other long story)and i've done triathlons. How about lets combine them!!
Since my first triathlon @ Parlee Beach in 2002 (where I spent 2 weeks prior teaching myself to swim!) until now I've competed in 8 Sprint Tris and 1 Olympic. And now I think I am ready to tackle the 1/2 IRONMAN. 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run (1/2 marathon) ....for a total of 70.3miles (hence the reason it's called the 70.3 series). I have been going with the Running Room Marathon Clinic to keep up my endurance, and I've been putting in extra laps at the pool (although the calm clear pool water is nothing compared to the frenzy arm/leg grabbing, face kicking, huge wave, freezing cold, dirty water you get in a real race...). I just need it to warm up so I can put on my shorty shorts and pink jersey and hop on the bicyclette!
I'm hoping for the September 2nd race in NB. If I survive this race I might start thinking about the 'real' full Ironman, but right now a 16-20 hour race does not look tempting at all! Until last year I was perfectly content with my Sprint Distance, but I suppose we always want bigger, better, longer, harder...and really...
"There's nothing halfway about 70.3"
PS. I did shitty on the test I thought I rocked which made me grumpy, but aimee reminded me that I shouldn't care b/c I'm rockin my new hair!
