birth control...scary.

I've been getting depo-provera contraceptive injections for about 2 years and always thought it was the best option for myself...until now. I've recently been introduced to new research and have been hearing 'horror stories' of people that have taken this. Here's a list of some of the side effects that come along with this method of birth control.
- Causes Bone Mineral Density Loss and may not be reversible, leading to osteoporosis
- Irregular Periods
- Depression
- Weight Gain: usually 5 lbs in the first year of taking it and 8-10 by the second year (...so that might explain why i've been gaining weight even though i eat the same as i always do!)
- ACNE
- Abdominal Cramps (hmmm...)
- Headaches
- Fatigue & insomnia
- Increased risk of breast cancer

And the list goes on....

Health Care Professionals are now recommending that Dep0-provera contraceptive injection should only be used as a long-term birth control method if other methods are indaquate.

I will never get another depo shot again in my life.
